The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently traveling to the Fernie 2 Neighborhood Hall in Mpuluzi to render companies for the community.
SASSA will be rendering expert services which include new social grant applications, change of payment method, consumer care enquiries, plus the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.
In a statement, the agency said it can be alarmed with regard to the substantial number of people counting on social grants for survival.
“The aim on the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to a substantial number of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.
“This really is mainly because of the lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there is no entirely functional office devoted to service the area every day. The provider place established for intervention experiences a higher influx of prospective beneficiaries, that makes it complicated for the Workplace to attend to all people who stop by a service point.
“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise more status sassa resources to enable the servicing of all customers and increase usage of Social Assistance services,” the agency said.
